What inspection variables should be evaluated?

Check part movement and trigger order during zoned captures. Images from different directions must remain spatially aligned.

What lighting geometry fits this inspection task?

Zoned lighting captures reflections from different directions separately. Synchronise each exposure with its zone and control part displacement between frames when comparing directional features.

Break the task into observable features such as outline, surface, lettering or colour before choosing illumination. Camera, lens, light, motion and processing work together; more brightness alone may not improve recognition.

Prepare good parts covering normal variation and confirmed defective samples. Compare lighting directions under controlled exposure. Record difficult defects and textures that cause false detections, then validate at the real cycle time. Base the selection on representative conditions rather than a single ideal image.

Before choosing a configuration?

For selection, specify the field of view, smallest target feature, height variation, cycle time and installation space. Use the specific product page and drawing to verify electrical ratings, dimensions and compatibility.

Capturing separate illumination directions?

Activate zones individually while holding the specimen and camera fixed. The resulting frames show which directions reveal each feature. Combining all zones can make the image brighter while hiding directional information.

Verify trigger order and exposure timing for every zone. Test the same defect after rotating the part. If processing combines multiple frames, confirm that motion between exposures does not misalign the features.
