A 20° compact low-angle light for semiconductor-chip surface inspection
LXV-RS4220-B places high-power blue LEDs in a low 20° emitting geometry so shallow relief, edges and surface irregularities can produce directional contrast in a restricted inspection station. Its 48.5 × 42 × 11 mm body is intended for narrow machine spaces and can be used in strobed operation when the controller and exposure timing are matched.

Semiconductor-chip surfaces
Use grazing illumination to strengthen shallow topography, edges and contamination that may be weak under axial light.
Restricted inspection stations
Fit the 11 mm-high body near the target while keeping the camera field unobstructed.
Directional defect contrast
Rotate the light or workpiece until the required scratch, edge or relief direction creates repeatable contrast.
Strobed capture
Synchronise the light pulse with the camera exposure when short motion-free captures are required.
Verified geometry and the measurements required for production release
The product-specific values establish the optical angle, blue-light construction, compact envelope and electrical load. Illuminance, usable field, pulse limit and thermal rise depend on working distance, controller and duty cycle, so those values must be measured on the selected target rather than inferred from a larger ring-light family.

Use the single standard row and validate the optical result before release
The standard configuration is the blue LXV-RS4220-B at 24 V and 3.2 W. A requested UV or IR version is not electrically or optically interchangeable until wavelength, output, controller and thermal conditions are confirmed.
- 1
Define the feature direction
Record the chip edge, mark, scratch or contamination orientation that must remain visible.
- 2
Set the 20° geometry
Choose working distance and azimuth so low-angle light reaches the target without entering the lens directly.
- 3
Match blue light to the sensor
Verify target contrast, exposure and any filter using representative good and defective chips.
- 4
Close the strobe design
Confirm voltage, pulse width, repetition rate, duty cycle, controller capacity and thermal rise together.

Reserve the compact body while protecting the grazing optical path
Use the complete 48.5 × 42 × 11 mm envelope for preliminary placement. Confirm mounting-hole coordinates, emitting aperture, connector orientation and cable bend on the selected unit before releasing the fixture.
- 01
Keep the 20° emitting path clear between the LEDs and chip surface.
- 02
Reserve the full 48.5 × 42 × 11 mm body without obstructing the camera view.
- 03
Provide a 24 V circuit sized for the 3.2 W standard load and the intended pulse mode.
- 04
Confirm mounting holes, connector side, cable routing and service access before machining.
- 05
Validate exposure, contrast and thermal stability at production speed before acceptance.
